Cell typing of whole-brain glutamatergic neurons in zebrafish

Cell typing of whole-brain glutamatergic neurons in zebrafish

论文摘要

Brain complexity is implemented by astounding diversity of cell types connected in approximate numbers and combinations. Thus, to define diverse neuronal cell types become increasingly appreciated as one of the most fundamental issue in brain science. As the key mediators, glutamatergic neurons are critical to transmit neuronal activities within the circuits. Here, we performed single-cell RNA sequencing of ~80,000 cells from 7 days-post fertilization larval zebrafish and mapped out dozens of glutamatergic neuron types across distinct major brain regions.Combined with the analysis of sparsely labeled single glutamatergic neurons of different subtypes,we made the further characterization of these subtypes for different aspects, including cell-body position, dendritic structure, axonal projection.Together, our study provides an enriched resource for whole-brain glutamatergic subtypes.
